Barnet have created information on their Local Offer to share resources and useful links to support families and those working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities during this time. 

The information has been divided into the following sections:

Barnet Autism Advisory Team Parent Hotline
Barnet have announced the introduction of a hotline to support parents of autistic children/YP living in Barnet. The aim of this hotline is to discuss concerns with social communication, emotional regulation and education by suggesting strategies and/or access to other services. They can support parents specifically around the following; emotional regulation, setting up schedules and routines in the home, communication, and support for home education.

  • Note that this is not an anonymous hotline and information will be shared with relevant professionals as necessary.
  • The hotline will be in operation 10am to 11am, Monday - Friday, from 20 April, 2020
  • The phone number is 020 8359 3167
  • Phone calls can last a maximum of 20 minutes.

  • BBC Cbeebies - Something Special
    Using a sign language called Makaton, Justin and Mr Tumble help children learn how to communicate and develop language skills in a fun and exciting way.
  • BBC Bitesize Daily Lessons
    The BBC are offering 14 weeks of educational programmes and lessons to every household in the country delivering daily online lessons for all age groups.
  • Sensory App House Ltd
    A range of apps are available for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) or Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). All are interactive and many do not require significant coordination abilities.
  • Sensory Projects - Covid-19 Resources
    Sensory ideas for home learning, also provides links to live sessions that people are running including Soundabout, TAC PAC and massage stories.
  • Sense Play Toolkit
    Information for parents on how to approach play for children with complex learning needs.
  • Gina Davis Attention Autism
    Gina shares videos of activities on her Facebook page that you could try at home.
  • Gemiini
    Gemiini is an online therapy program that uses an approach called Discrete Video Modeling - a clinically proven way to increase language, reading, and social skills. It breaks down information into easy-to-understand 'bites'. Free 7-Day Trial available.
